Haiti Savanne Zombie
This Haitian coffee comes from a town called Zombie Desert, home to one of the region’s only model farms. Despite its small size, this cooperative produces 600 bags of coffee annually while paying farmers premium prices for their coffee cherries. Uniquely, this coffee is shade-grown, a rarity in Haiti, where forest cover is scarce. The cooperative’s farmers earn approximately 300% more than the Fair Trade minimum—not as an act of charity, but as recognition for their exceptional product. Located in Haiti’s Central Plateau, the cooperative consists of 75 farmers, with each farm averaging just 1 hectare in size.
